Music I listen to

There are just way too many artists/groups that I like to list......so to keep it short.........I'm a big fan of all Classic Rock, including of course "The British Invasion" bands of the 60's like The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Who and The Kinks just to name a few!

And being Canadian, I like to support music from my own country too of course! image

My Favourite Movies

All of the Lord of the Rings movies, Harry Potter movies, Narnia (hey, I have kids and I LOVED C.S. Lewis' book "The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe" when I was growing up. They did a great job with the movie), all of the Star Wars movies, good mysteries, good comedies, the Classics......

Just this past summer, I started collecting James McAvoy movies and have NOT been disappointed at all! The film industry is indeed looking brighter because of this wonderfully talented young Scottish actor! image

Thanks to the girls who recommended most of these James movies to me, I now own, Wimbledon, Stater For 10, Rory O'Shea Was Here (Inside I'm Dancing), Penelope, Atonement and Becoming Jane (which is my FAVE James movie at the moment), Last King of Scotland and Wanted.

Of course I am looking forward to the release (FINALLY!!!!) of The Last Station (January--ish.) AND am VERY excited about "The Conspirator"! image

And of course I do own Narnia which would be very first movie that I ever saw James in, but had NO idea at the time who he was.....I sure do now thanks to the James Threads I am involved with in the Man of the Moment. :)

TV shows I watch (WHEN I can that is... ;) )

The ONE show that is a MUST every week (aside from hockey and the CFL during their respective seasons!) in our house is the hit comedy "Corner Gas"! Being from the prairies, we can totally relate to this great show. It reminds me somewhat of the old "Northern Exposure", complete with it's own set of "quirky" characters and story lines with good ol Canadian humour!

And there are so many shows that I would LIKE to watch...if I got the chance. :)

Books that I have read

Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, The Narnia Series, good (psychological) mysteries by such authors as Barbara Vine (aka Ruth Rendall), Maeve Binchey.....and thanks to Jenny (and Helen who kind of got us started on this), the Twilight series. (Thanks girls!)

A little bit about me...

Hello! My name is Sue and I'm from Alberta, Canada...Where the Prairies meet our beautiful Rocky Mountains!

Music, music, music! Especially rock and classic rock!! Music has been my #1 Passion all of my life and I LOVE going to rock concerts! Unfortunately, I don't get to do that nearly as much as I did at one time in my life.....ahhh...that's what having a family can do. image

A few years ago, I really got into Lord of the Rings, thanks to my husband (I think I shocked him with my interest in it, LOL!). I watched FOTR twice before I really got into the whole LOTR thing even tho I loved the movie the first time! Since then, I've "fallen in love" with J.R.R. Tolkien's Middle Earth, Director Peter Jackson's movie productions and much of Toronto born Howard Shore's (composed, conducted and orchestrated by) Soundtrack and LOTR became a very close #2 Passion of mine! (I have also read the books a couple of times which were originally a gift to my husband and I kind of ended up..."adopting" them, lol image).

Because of LOTR, I became a bit of a Fantasy fan but I am also a big (space) Sci-Fi fan as well. (Star Wars, Star Trek. I can thank my first b/f for getting me into Star Trek. I was hooked on both movies and original tv series after seeing The Wrath of Khan with him . image ).

I also like to write and when the mood or moment strikes, I got to get it down on paper. (I like to think of myself as as 'ameteur writer' and like to think I can write. image ).

I have a love/hate relationship with my competitive streak which one the one hand allows me to enjoy certain sports but also basically means that it's not always a pretty picture, lol.... image--team pro sports, I LOVE the CFL (Canadian Football) and (NHL) hockey (go figure on that one!) both of my teams being Edmonton, of course! image

My favourite radio stations

Because of where I live, I spend a fair amount of time on the highway and need tunes to keep make the drive more enjoyable...and also because I tend to forget to bring along my own tunes more often than not, lol. Four (four because I love and need variety) great radio stations that I really enjoy are:

    The Canadian Football pre-season kicks off tonight with all teams in action! Saskatchewan Roughriders are playing the Edmonton Eskimos at Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton at 7:00 pm. :)

    In two weeks, the regular season will start and ironically...on July 1, Canada Day.....I always get excited when football season starts.....Go Eskies!!! :)

    On May 19th 1984, the Edmonton Oilers won their first Stanley Cup against the New York Islanders (who had beaten them the year before). They went on to win 5 more Stanley Cups over the next 7 years after that and went on to went claim the cup sporadically in the years after.

    The last time Edmonton was in the Stanley Cup Playoffs was in 2006 and very nearly came to bringing the Stanley Cup home again! It went down to the very last minute of the very last game of the very last series...

    Thru the years and different jobs...I think I've had everyday of the week off somewhere...I actually like having weekday's off rather than weekends...cause most peeps have weekends off and if I want to do something...I don't have to mess with bigger crowds...

    Oh, I totally get what you are saying. It IS nice to have week days off too but I was still "young and single" when I had that 9-5, Mon-Fri job and I LOOOVED having the weekends off cuz a fair amount of my friends had the same time off as well. :)

    I hear ya...when I worked retail, I worked most saturdays too....:( But once I was finally got out of the retail racket, I found a 9-5, Mon-Fri job which I could truly appreciate after the years of nights and weekend work of retail.

    At least you do get Sundays off....with retail these days, they aren't even closed on Sunday's anymore.
